RimShot on a phone: duels of two memes, gifs or jokes from the same category where one tap picks the funnier one, and the result immediately moves both in the Elo ranking. Plus uploading your own content, the all-time and official rankings of every category, and reporting content that should not be there.
Overview
RimShot is a humour platform where content fights in pairs. The phone is its natural home: memes, gifs and short jokes are watched in breaks, and a rating has to take one move, not filling in a form.
A duel in one tap
The app shows two pieces of content from the same category: a meme against a meme, a gif against a gif, a joke against a joke. The user picks the funnier one, the winner gains Elo points, the loser loses some, and the next pair appears right away.
Fairly matched pairs
content only fights within its own category, so a meme never loses to a text joke.
pairing gives new content more duels, so it quickly finds its place in the ranking.
a pair matches content with a close Elo, so every vote says something.
nobody gets their own material to rate or can vote for themselves.
Two rankings
Every category has an all-time ranking, stable and based on Elo, and an official ranking that loses 20 percent of its points every day. The first shows the classics, the second what is funny right now.
Your own content and moderation
From the phone you upload images, gifs and short text jokes, with a daily limit per account. An account is created with an invite code, and votes are limited so nobody can inflate scores. Content that should not be there is reported with one button, and after several reports it disappears automatically and waits in the moderation queue.
