The tool starts in your browser.
Everything is calculated in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to our server.
How to use it in three steps
The tool as a schematic with this page's example. Each step's number stands where you take it: in the fields, at the result or outside the tool.
Tick the permissions the role or bot needs.
Read the bitfield number.
Paste it into the API or a bot invite link.
Five bot permissions in one number
Each permission is one bit and the mask is their sum. Discord takes it as a number in the API and in a bot invite link. The result is computed by the same function the tool at the top of the page uses, every time the page is shown.
You tick
- Permissions
- View channels, Send messages, Embed links, Attach files, Read message history
The bit of each permission
- View channels
- 1 << 10 = 1024
- Send messages
- 1 << 11 = 2048
- Embed links
- 1 << 14 = 16384
- Attach files
- 1 << 15 = 32768
- Read message history
- 1 << 16 = 65536
Discord numbers permissions from zero. Permission number n is 1 shifted left by n bits.
The sum of the bits
- Mask
- 1024 + 2048 + 16384 + 32768 + 65536 = 117760
Every click turns one bit on or off. The bits do not overlap, so the mask is a plain sum.
