The change merged into Jiff
The buffers for printing durations fit the longest values: a negative ISO 8601 duration takes 36 bytes, not 35, and the friendly format counts the plus sign too, so printing no longer panics.
- Pull request #658merged on 13 October 2026
What it taught us
The longest written form of a value is not always at the end of its range: here it was a negative duration with the longest hour count and two-digit minutes and seconds. A fixed buffer size has to be derived from the format and checked with a test on the longest value.
